BLIND is the debut release of ESMERALDA.
On stage she´s a chansonette with the spirit of Aretha Franklin, a classic oriented soulsister of Erykah Badu, the musical cousin of Beth Gibbons. Her voice is direct, but not less than mysterious and venturous in a feminist way. She combines this wonderfull old but still undescribable paradox of demanding and understanding, mystery and clarity, proximity and distance, presence and unattainability.
If one listen to ESMERALDA & The Ruffcats performing live also the experienced band-scout knows: they do and want more than hanging out at Myspace.
The Ruffcats are Hendrik Stiller, Joh Weisgerber & Uwe Breunig. They live the essence of jazz and prepare the soundscape with doublebass, rhodes and tricky sampling in which ESMERALDA flower out.
