Are You A DigiNomad???
Looking for DigiNomads!!!!
Are You A DigiNomad??? Fill in the survey!!!
NuNomads, New Nomads, Teleworker and Webworker are all descriptive terms for a well known and rising phenomenon; People who are changing their working spaces all the time. Beside the enormous office buildings companies use to enforce their corporate identity people now work in cafés, at home, flexible workplaces, etc. I like to refer to this type of people as DigiNomads emphasizing their nomadic way of life and their use of new digital communication techniques. These nomads use the Global City as their habitat instead of the abandoned sandy landscapes of the dessert. Hopping between cities is if it are oases searcing for a strong WIFI signal. They do not only carry their identity with them but also have one online.
For my graduation project on the Faculty of Architecture (Technical University Delft, the Netherlands) I try to find the architectural consequences of this trend. What are the needs of DigiNomads and what kind of building does accommodate this. Two central questions in my thesis are:
- What is home when you’re always on the move?
- Where can we find places were local and global features of a city meet?
For the thesis and the design I need input from real DigiNomads. Through different media I try to get in contact with them and ‘the Business Class .NET’ is one of this media. I would like you DigiNomads, soon to be or have been DigiNomads to fill in the questions of the online survey. For everyone who fills in the survey I have a digital copy of the thesis ‘The Office and Home(l)essentials” and of course a report of the results.
For further information on my project go the graduation-blog: http://diginomad.blogspot.com. There is a link in the top to the DigiNomad survey and to a second survey for people who just like to travel but do not consider themselves DigiNomads. A direct link to the DigiNomad survey:
SURVEY FOR DIGINOMADS
If you could find the time and the willingness to fill in the survey you would help me a lot. And if you know anybody else who would like to fill in the survey please spread the message, you never know where the digital highway will bring you!!
Kind Regards,
Janine Toussaint
