"... The flowers and fruits on ITAPARICA Island are pretty and delicious. The green of the native Atlantic forest is exuberant! The butterflies, the birds singing in the morning, little monkeys jumping from tree to tree, and the horses grazing outside make for a very special kind of nature here. The part of ITAPARICA where we live is called "MANGUINHOS". It's a small village, a rural place with a population of about two thousand - most of them fishermen who live by the traditional way of fishing by small boat. About 2.000 people are living around here. All together 20.000 people living on the island - most of them are fisherman. They still use small, traditional boats for fishing..."
... All this is just 10km away from Salvador, Brazil's third largest city. A vibrant metropolis, Salvador is considered a cultural capital of South America.
